Bromine is a member of the block P group and has the chemical formula Br. It occurs as a crystalline mineral halide salt and has a characteristic red-brown color. It is considered toxic, a cancer suspect and a contaminant of soil and groundwater.
nickel iii bromide is an inorganic compound with the chemical formula NiBr2x. It is available in hydrate form as a yellowish green solid or in anhydrous form as a golden-yellow liquid. It is readily soluble in water and can be used to make nickel salts and for chemical analysis. It is also used as a catalyst in cross-coupling reactions, and in surface treatment.
Bulk and granular powders are readily available from American Elements. They are typically shipped in standard and custom packaging. They are available in Mil Spec (military grade), ACS, Reagent and Technical Grades. They are also USP and EP/BP (European Pharmacopoeia/British Pharmacopoeia) grade, following applicable ASTM testing standards.
A conceptually new bulk absorption mechanism-mediated low-humidity sensor based on nickel bromide has been developed. The reversible material transition of NiBr2 in the moisture environment is triggered by the bulk absorption behavior of water molecules, which provides excellent performance for humidity sensing at different RH levels, ranging from 0.2 % to 11 %.
