aluminum nitride powder is a high-quality, pure micro powder that contains extremely low levels of metallic impurities. It is also highly conductive and has a thermal expansion coefficient of 4.5 *10
It is available in many different particle sizes for various applications, including optoelectronics and semiconductor fabrication. It is able to be cast into rod, bar, or plate form, as well as many other machined shapes and in the form of solutions and organometallic compounds.
The most common type of AlN powder is produced by direct nitridation or carbothermal reduction-nitridation of alumina. Both processes produce AlN particles in close-to-spherical form and a predetermined particle size distribution.
They are used in the manufacture of a wide range of resins, including those that have high thermal conductivity (>10 W/m-K). The additive of AlN powder to these materials helps them achieve the high thermal conductivity required by modern electronics applications.
However, this is only a niche market because the cost of spherical AlN powder is too high for most applications. In this case, replacing a small fraction of the spherical AlN powder with an irregular (direct-reduction-based) AlN powder can reduce the cost by up to 25-33% while still maintaining a high thermal conductivity value.
At Tokuyama, we offer a wide selection of high-purity AlN powder and AlN granules. By using our internally developed manufacturing methods and a unique nitride reduction process, we can offer products with an extremely low amount of impurities, making them ideal for applications that require high-quality raw materials.
