magnesium zinc alloy has attracted a lot of attention due to its good corrosion resistance, and also the fact that it can be produced in biodegradable form. In addition, magnesium and zinc are both essential minerals for the human body. Therefore, Mg-Zn binary alloys are becoming increasingly popular to improve their corrosion resistance and tensile strength.

Materials Selection and Preparation of Mg-Zn Alloy: 1. The original powder morphology is shown in Figure 3 (a), the spherical shaped Mg powder has a particle size less than 40 um, has a slightly rough surface and small burrs. The spherical-shaped zinc powder has a particle size of less than 30 um and a smoother surface than the Mg powder.

SEM and XRD Images of the Alloy’s Microstructure: 2. The Mg-Zn alloy has a good metallic luster when it is prepared with low zinc content, and the snowflake-like metal lines on its surface are deep and thick. In addition, the metal’s overall color is dark.

Corrosion Resistance of Mg-Zn Alloys: 3. The corrosion resistance of the magnesium-zinc alloy can be further improved with a gradual increase in zinc content.

Micromotion Friction and Wear during Bending Deformation: 4. The friction coefficient of the magnesium-zinc alloy is lower than that of pure magnesium, and it increases gradually with the increase in zinc content.

Various nanoparticle reinforcements were used in this study, including Al2O3, Si3N4, TiC and carbon nanotubes, to investigate the influence of their presence on the mechanical properties of magnesium-zinc alloys. The results indicated that the addition of nanoparticles to magnesium-zinc alloys enhances the tensile strength and ductility of each alloy.
